Basic Principles that will get users subscribed to your blog
How do you get people to come to your blogs? Better yet? How do you get people to subscribe to them? The total number of subscribers is valued as much higher than other aspects such as traffic or page views. The bottom line is that subscribers are to a blog what blood is to a vampire. So how does a blog writer go about getting subscribers?
- Giving subscription options is a good idea, as not everyone digs RSS. An email alternative is a great idea. And to take it a step further, put it at the bottom of every post.
- Offering something that is free is another great way to get down to business, as almost no one can resist anything for free. If nothing else, the page viewers will be obliged to subscribe.
- Focus is an aspect that has to be in place, as is finding a niche. Stick to what you are good at, and there is no way you can go wrong.
- Viral e-books are another great way to go. You can hook up with other sites and have them give away the e-book as free gifts. No one suffers, everyone’s happy, and you will be promoting your site, as well as probably getting a few more customers at your e-doorstep.
- Blogging on other peoples’ blogs is also a great idea, as it will just increase your popularity. You can add a link to your own blog, thus directing at least a bit of traffic back to where you really belong.
- Starting podcasts is another great idea, as you can always find a lot of people willing to give interviews. Every now and then, you’ll hook a big fish, and will see people streaming in to listen to what you’ve recorded. Video interviews will take it up a notch, and is a great way to attract people to your blog.
- Networking can do wonders for your blog. The more people you meet, the more the publicity for your blog. Helping fellow blog writers is a great way to do this. This way, not only are you being gracious, but also helping yourself. It’s a kind of ‘I scratch your back, you scratch mine’ kind of situation, where both parties benefit from each others’ actions.
- A separate page for just subscriptions will send out the message that you are a serious blogger. Using Google Adwords, you can drive traffic to this page, or you could even put it up on a completely different URL.
- Forums are another great way to gain exposure
All these little tips will hopefully make your blog a happier place for you. And ofcourse, happy blog = happy blog writer! :)
