Proper mix of reader-friendly content ensures a blog’s success
It’s no more unusual and unreasonable for bloggers to expect decent monetary returns if they manage to attract just about couple thousand readers on daily basis.
Helping these savvy bloggers to fill their pockets are tools such as Google’s AdSense and similar such online avenues that allow individuals and not just leading publications earn lucrative advertising money with just a click of the mouse.
In 2006, advertisers spent close to $16.9 billion online. The figure is up steadily year-on-year basis. In 2002, it was just $6 billion. Online advertising crossed $10 billion mark in the first half of 2007, almost 27 percent rise over the corresponding half of 2006.
Not much technical skill is actually required to publish a blog. But making it popular needs efforts. The Director of online sales & operations for Google’s AdSense, Kim Malone Scott, had once stated that just about any individual with something worthwhile to comment or say can get an audience. The trend has resulted in greater flow of readership as well as advertising dollars, as she rightly points out.
According to a survey done by the Pew Internet & American Life Project in 2006, nearly 39 percent of internet users, revealed that they read blogs, up from mere 27 percent a couple of years ago. With the proper mix of reader-friendly content and right exposure, a blog can fetch a dedicated audience, making it a money-spinner. Maybe, it’s your turn, now!
