Rule of thumb for bloggers

blogs

If you are a blogger, there are two things that you would encounter sooner or later. You have thousand others to compete with. The second thing is that most of them commit the same mistakes repeatedly and you can learn from their bitter experiences.blogs

Identity

As a content writer or blogger, it is essential that you carve out your own identity. It is normal to be inspired by the greats in the  blogging world. When one enters the unknown territory, instead of getting lost for directions, it is better to follow someone who is already ‘a big gun’ of the blogging world. Be inspired, but be yourself.

Boorishness sucks

Quite true. It is indeed a major turn off and people endorsing it are the most hated ones. Stay away from being boorish and you would be respected by all, if not loved.

Avoid being irrelevant

No matter, at times you would put your heart in the content, yet there are no takers. Probably you are selling stuff that is totally irrelevant to what the readers would love to read and know about. There is no point posting about things like Salzburger Nockerl. “What? ”, that is what the readers  would say after reading irrelevant stuffs. By the way that strange name is an Austrian dish.

Impatience kills!

You are no Harry Potter. Neither am I. There is no such magic wand that would help you have  thousands of followers within no time. Be practical. Remember, “slow and steady wins the race.”

Ask yourself these simple questions before deciding the course if things are not going your way.

  • Am I giving readers what they expect?
  • Am I on par with the like minded bloggers?
  • Am I participating actively in my niche group?

If your answers are negative, it is time to slow down and re-look again.
