Content marketing: Do it right

Content marketing means writing and sharing informative and creative content with the main motif of converting traffic into customers and eventually to repeat buyers.

With a primary goal of obtaining permission to deliver content via email or eventually either medium, content marketing aids in regular and repeated exposure that plays an instrumental role in building apt relationships which in turn provides multiple opportunities for conversion as compared to traditional digital “one-shot” sales approach. And although copywriting tactics are often applied to content for content marketing, this is really not traditional advertising that we are talking here. The later involves delivering information that’s requested and with independent values that generates trust, reliability and authority.
And with 6 out of 10 companies spending more than last year on content marketing, it’s important to gear up or find where your content fits on your content marketing strategy.

Here are few important points to consider if you want your content to pass the test.

1.    Be remarkable, takes chances, be outstanding: Forget plagiarism; even if you write in your own words what someone else did, your chances of being noticed is slim. Break conventions, stand out and get noticed.

2.    Be fast, be steady: Make a content marketing effort that’s agile and reaches your target audience on time.

3.    Let your content have a personality: A content with personality claims for itself an identity. A content with an identity connects to the users better than content that’s cold and doesn’t connect to its users.

4.   Make your content scan friendly: Readers on the internet read 25% slower than they read in print because it tires the eyes. Also, your audience is very busy and is susceptible to 50% more boredom than when they are reading print texts. Make your crisp, short and frame it in such a fashion that augments scanning. Break your article with headlines and sub-headlines and highlight the high points. That will do the job of preventing your readers from navigating away.

5.    Let your content not be for only SEO: A bad content will not help much in the process of promotion. Remember, although it is necessary to have content that incorporate keywords, it is much more important to have a content that’s good and which will ensure your reader’s return.
