Plinky v/s The writer’s Block
Plinky, anyone? No, it’s not a nick name forced upon me. It in fact is a recent website, not quite like anything you’ve seen before. The word obviously doesn’t quite give away what it stands for. But if you are one of those writers plagued by the dreaded writer’s block, it’s worth giving a try.
Instead of losing your sleep or battling panic pangs at work over a writer’s block, plug in to this cool new site, where you can push that tiresome block off a tall cliff.
It was launched by Jason Shellen last year who previously worked with Google. What the site does is ‘prompts’ you to answer questions that stimulate your mind to open up to new ideas and avenues you probably haven’t explored before. But that is not the end of the story. Further it allows you to share and compare your answers with friends. They provide you with a new question (termed as ‘prompts’) everyday. And here you don’t have to limit your answer to just words; it lets you upload pictures, maps, playlists, etc.
They conclude each week by conducting a ‘weekend writing challenge’ especially for those who love to write. What more? It strikes a connection with social media too. You can share your answers on Facebook, Twitter, Tumbir & other social networks.
The interface is quite simplistic and user-friendly. And it looks like the website is drawing a decent amount of users on a daily basis. The prompts are both fun and thought provoking. You of course need to sign up and create your own profile on the site so as to avail of its creative services. But so far the registration seems easy and hassle free.
So writers looking for motivation & inspiration can gladly direct themselves to this site. You will surely be hooked on in no time.
Plinky is pretty cool to get around tight spots as a writer. If you are looking to be dedicated, then you might find http://750words.com/ or http://www.writerscafe.org/ interesting.
