Say no to plagiarism

Back in school, we were taught how wrong it is to copy. But then with time as innocence fades, so do our morals. And as deadlines are slapped on a copywriters’ face, the urge to just pick up existing stuff is high. But that in professional term is pure plagiarism.

Plagiarism is termed when a copywriter takes away an idea or expression and publishes it claiming it to be his own work. This is a serious offence under Intellectual Property Act and if it is proved that your article or work is copied, then you may have to face grave consequences.

Many copywriters have the tendency to copy because they feel that they run out of ideas and need to have some new ones. Also, copywriters pick up ideas that they find unique and innovative. But all these practices are wrong and will only make your article sound like any other article. Besides, Google will not really promote your page if it finds plagiarized content.

So to avoid all these hassles, it is better that you follow your own style of writing and use your own inputs rather than using ctrl C and ctrl V! Research is allowed and you can refer the information on the internet. But do not pick up stuff from anywhere.

Here’s what you can do to avoid plagiarism.

You can follow up a story, blog or article. You read something and realize that the article is incomplete. You can include those missing links and make it as a follow up article.

Phrases, proverbs and idioms are universal and can be used. They will not be termed as copying. So include them at possible places in your article and make it sound different.

Very importantly share your personal experiences. That will make your article sound very interesting and readers’ like reading about others’ experiences.

As a copywriter it is very important to develop your own style. Your way of writing makes the article your own. By copying some other writers’ work, you will not gain a writing style that will be unique to you.

If you still have doubts, conduct Plagiarism Detection on your article. Install Plagiarism Detection software in yourcomputer, through which you can have a clear idea if your article consists of any copied material or not. Incase if there is any copied content, then the software will detect it and highlight the same, after which you can make the specific amendments.

So be original and write original. It is very easy to be someone else, but it is rather very difficult to be your own self.
