Shakespeare’s Next Protege

Stories are told not of the warrior that tried, but of the one who conquered. Why would it be any different for us writers?

Today, the world has somehow expanded to incorporate those with an obstinate urge for writing. But when numbers exist, greed sets in. In a bid to stand atop the highest peak, writers often leave the obvious unattended. Sure, Shakespeare is loved by many and feared by some. But I presume the man who penned down “What’s in a name?” sure didn’t have it come easy to him.

Our minds and thoughts can be treacherous things, if we let it. Wash off the blur in your brain to get a bright view ahead. Urgency is not in the running. So let your thoughts simmer in slowly as haste does not lead to productivity. Patience pays in due time.

You’ve got to carve out the edges to create something fine. And ideas won’t come gift-wrapped. A writer steals away hidden thoughts beneath all the dust and grime. Those are the ones that create stunning concepts and/ or lines.

And for crying out loud, don’t bring your anger to the writing table. If there’s something that irks you, try jabbing boxing bags or ricocheting pebbles off the surface of water.

The road may seem less traveled for you as a writer, but that is only because your destination may have more to offer.

I speak not from knowledge or experience. But I am part of the clan that you now aspire to join – that of writers.

Shakespeare awaits someone to take up his mantle someday. Maybe you, me or maybe an individual that has not yet opened the treasured chest that secretly contains his potential skill to write. But that can be proclaimed only once we give it a shot.
