AOL Shakes Hand with Scripps Network to Enhance Video Content

With plans to expand its online distribution area, Scripps Network lately announced a partnership deal with AOL to deliver clips from its assortment of leading lifestyle content to internet consumers through AOL Video, and selectively throughout Slashfood, AOL Home and AOL Food later this summer, the two firms said.

AOL Video will offer highlights from chosen HGTV series such as Carter Can, Deserving Design, House Hunters, Color Splash, Sleep on It, I Want That! and Design on a Dime.

Moreover, AOL Video will provide clips from Food Network shows such as Ace of Cakes, Down Home with the Neelys, Paula’s Home Cooking, Barefoot Contessa, Quick Fix Meals with Robin Miller and Good Eats with Alton Brown.

President of the interactive group for Scripps Networks Deanna Brown said that such brief highlights enable their fans an extra access point, and introduce a new audience to its brands. She further said that the partnership also supports the company’s strategy of growing a wide footprint in the categories of home, food and living.

Scripps, which is owned by E.W. Scripps, began to place its clips on Google’s YouTube in May.

Meanwhile, one will also be able to access content from DIY Network plays such as Amazing Log Homes, Cool Tools, Man Caves, Bathroom Renovations, Sweat Equity, Desperate Landscapes and Rock Solid. In addition, from Fine Living Network, highlights of American Shopper, Real Estate Confidential, All-Girl Getaways, Shopping with Chefs and Great Cocktails will be featured.

The good news for AOL users and Scripps fans is that they will now be allowed to access program sections from Food Network, HGTV, Fine Living Network and DIY Network by visiting AOL Video’s channel tab placed on the homepage. Moreover, with the help of AOL’s Truveo video search engine powered AOL’s video search, you can find Scripps videos easily.

Scripps Network’s shows can be collectively found in over 175 countries and territories across the seven continents. Amazingly, they are also distributed to above 1,000 outlets on U.S. embassies and U.S. military bases throughout the world via the American Forces Radio and Television Service.

What’s more! AOL’s distribution platform caters to the NBC Universal/News Corp. joint online video venture Hulu, and parts of the CBS Audience Network as well. Besides, it is known that the firm also has content deals with ESPN and Disney’s ABC.
