Combining quality content with a popular social networking feature
Combining quality content with a popular social networking feature is a strategy that has been pioneered by MySpace. No surprise, is among the most popular social networks not only in the United States but also across the globe. It has moved aggressively and vigorously to add videos, games, news and many other features. Last week only, they added a ‘branded entertainment hub’ from the celebrity-watching website TMZ.
However, Facebook seems to have taken a slightly different tack. They are seeking to aggregate their users’ online actions and also encouraging them to share links. One way or the other, both networks are trying to make profiles portable. In other words, users can opt to carry their social network identity to any third-party website, stated the social networking blog Mashable editor, Adam Ostrow.
Analysing the trend, the president of Interactive One, a recent digital subsidiary of Radio One, Tom Newman said, “Although nobody has yet managed to figure out the secret sauce, enabling members to interact with each other and (also) interact with professionally generated content is clearly the future.”
The websites are ‘allowing users to bring along their friends from the online social networks they already use,” he added.
Thanks for this – great idea.
