10 year old Google Continues to Roll Out Innovative Features
Google’s thirst for innovation is not going to be quenched. The world’s dominant search engine giant is rolling out new features and enabling easier and most efficient web search for internet users. Its whooping expenditure of $2.1 billion on research and development in a single year is the proof of its resolve to revolutionize Internet search beyond imaginations.
The company started by Sergey Brin and Larry Page in a small garage in Menlo Park, California, ten years ago, employs 17,000 workers today and generated profit of $4.2 billion last year and has offices in 20 countries.
According to Marissa Mayer, Google’s vice president of search products and user experience, Google continually looks out at user experience, their needs and expectations.
Google revolutionized Internet search with the introduction of “universal search’ which includes images, video, maps, news and data. It eliminated hassle of visiting numerous Google searches in getting different types of information.
Mayer informs that another major innovation from Google will be to blend new media and technologies such as mobile phone and car based systems to make search queries. Google will also give freedom to users in exercising control over looks of Web pages. Mayer adds that iGoogle has already started offering decorative themes of famous artists and designers to users for personalizing their Google pages.
In the backdrop of fierce competition, Mayer feels that three factors viz. comprehensiveness, relevance and user experience will differentiate Google from others. Google will offer more content in the form of books, videos and news than anybody else.
