Linkool Launches Firefox Sidebar, Juice
Linkool International recently launched a Firefox browser sidebar called ‘Juice.’ This is a powerful plug-in that amasses all the information from the web about a highlighted term or what is being searched for. This is a very handy reference tool that a user can get used to very swiftly.
‘Juice’ also acts as a media storage tool. Users can simply drag and drop videos and image files into the sidebar and save it for later use. ‘Juice’ also pulls content from various sources such as Wikipedia and TechCrunch.com’s CrunchBase. In the process, it also offers the users a swift at-a-glance summary of some of the most popular topics. The sidebar is extremely well developed and allows in-line video playback and also expandable text summaries.
Presently, the database of the plug-in is fairly small. Many of the searches, some being as common as the term ‘superman,’ resulted in a note saying ‘Juice has learned a new keyword.’ Juice is the first application from Beijing-based Linkool Labs to integrate the company’s “intelligent discovery engine” which uses “natural language processing” and “a dictionary management system” to produce semantic results.
It is perpetually impossible to try and find out exactly how many searches go on behind the scenes. It is also clear that the search results are generally very accurate. However, there may be a few words which may actually ‘trick’ the system.
