All about keyword density
Keyword density is just an indicator of how many times the selected keyword appears on a web page. However, you need to ensure that the keywords are not overused as it may lead to problems. If you start repeating keywords blindly then your site may get rejected as a spam site or an artificial site.
Keyword density is expressed as the percentage of total number of words on a web page. Now if your webpage has hundred words and you use a keyword 5 times in that content then the keyword density of your webpage is 5%. It is the percentage count of the total number of words that appear on your webpage.
In case of keyword density, the standard accepted is between three and five percent.
There are a number of tools available online to help you analyse the keyword density of your page or your entire website. Here are some quick and easy steps to check keyword density of your webpage without using any special software:
First copy and paste the content on a software program like Word Perfect or MS-Word. Then select the full content. After that, go to the tools menu and select the word count. Note down the total number of words on the page. Now select the find function in the Edit menu. Go to the replace tab and then type the keyword that you want to analyse. The number of times you replace is the number of times the keyword appears on the webpage. Divide this by the total number of words on the page. The result will give you the keyword density of the page.
