Better headlines make the blog a happier place!

Being a blog content writer, having a dedicated following of readers is one thing, but turning casual browsers into readers is another. There is only one thing that can help you achieve this, and that is a killer headline, which of course has to be followed by an equally interesting opening paragraph. But the headline is what will tempt the casual browser to read further.A headline is perhaps the most important part of an article, as it is what will make the reader want more or not. If a headline is good, there is a better chance of the reader wanting to read the rest of the article. 8 out of 10 readers will read a headline, but only 2 out of ten will actually go through the rest of the article.

Obviously when you are writing, you have something in mind. Before writing any of the body content, it is a great idea to come up with a headline that’ll knock everyone’s socks off! If you expect readers to put in their precious time to read your article, you have to give them something in return, and a headline that promises them that something is a sure bet. Of course, you need to fulfill that promise, or you can bet that the reader will not come back for seconds.

Some might say it’s cheating, but a lot of people simply lift headlines from award winning copy or articles. But there is an art to doing this too. You have to fully understand what the headline is trying to say, or you might make a big mess of it, maybe by writing something completely contradictory.

Keywords really help if you insert them into the headlines. This will definitely help your blog rank high in search results. Targeting niche phrases instead of going for the really popular ones will probably land fewer hits, but will also ensure less competition. Using the right keywords will just go to show that you know what people want.

There is a certain breed of blog content writers that are able to generate one winning headline after the other. With some people it’s a God given talent, but some simply pick up the pace and learn how to do it. For starters, they learn to identify the really good ones and understand why they work. They also make sure they are targeting the right audience. A great headline is not always meant for the masses, and trying to alter it so that all will appreciate it will just ruin the effect.

A good headline can make an article come to life and a series of good articles can make a blog quite profitable. It’s a chain reaction of sorts, and if you master it, you very well could be a master blogger!
